Priority is our fastest shipping option. The average delivery time in Europe is 2 to 4 days. Use our priority stickers on the address side of your items. These stickers are available free of charge at all Österreichische Post locations.

Economy option is the most inexpensive shipping solution and offers great value. It is the perfect choice for all your letter mail items that are not time sensitive.

Rates

To benefit from our cheapest rates for S and M letters, your items must be machine-processable and addresses must be machine-readable. To learn about our criteria for machine-processable items, please read our brochure "Special requirements for machine-processability". If S or M letters do not meet machine-processability requirements, the rate of the next higher product will be charged. This rule does not apply to hand-written letters as long as the total volume does not exceed 300 items and the letters meet the other criteria.

This is our classic product for your international letter mail. There is nothing like international letter mail to stay in touch with friends and family around the world.

International Letter Mail Plus is an inexpensive shipping option available if the following requirements are met:

A minimum of 20 letters per batch (additional charge for missing items possible)
15 euros minimum per batch (including all additional services)
Pre-printed and completed posting list based on our Österreichische Post template
Postage paid for with the Österreichische Post franking impression

Total price = (number of units x rate per unit) + (total weight in kg x rate per kilo)

Priority means that we will ship your letter mail items by air or by whichever means of transporta-tion is fastest. Priority items are given preferential treatment both in the country of posting and the county of destination. The average delivery time within Europe is 2 to 4 days and 3 to 7 days for other countries. Use our priority stickers to label your items on the address side. These stickers are available free of charge at any Österreichische Post service location.

Economy is our inexpensive shipping option for international mail items that are not time-sensitive. Delivery times vary depending on the country.}

International letter mail rates for the priority shipping option in the "rest of Europe" zone also apply to letters and newspapers sent to and from military post offices abroad.

Currently, three military post offices are in operation:

1504 AUTCON UNIFIL (Lebanon)

The following items qualify as literature for the blind:

Braille publications
Sound recordings, special papers or any other accessory designed to master difficulties related to blindness intended solely for the use of blind people, provided that they are sent by or addressed to an officially recognised institute for the blind or a blind person.

Shipping requirements:

Items must be sent unsealed
Items must be identified as "Cécogramme – Envois pour les aveugles" in the postage area
Items must include the information “do not postmark” if no additional services are required.
Items must not include any personal documents
They may not include cancelled stamps, stamps in mint condition or special-value items.

Literature for the blind is free of postage with the exception of additional services.

Additional services are supplementary services for which the value added tax depends on the main service. If the main service is subject to VAT, the total service including the additional service is subject to VAT as well.

Additional services

In this section, you will find all available additional services for your international letter mail. These additional services are only available in combination with our Priority shipping option:

Use our inexpensive additional service "simple registered mail" to benefit from item tracking for your item from the time of posting in Austria all the way to delivery in the country of destination. Your item number allows you to track the status of your item on post.at to many different destinations. "Simple registered mail" is an inexpensive alternative to "registered mail", provided that you do not need the recipient to sign for the item. The item will be delivered via a scan, which means that the recipient does not need to be home to accept the item. In addition, your item is insured against loss, theft, and damage up to 25 euros.
No other services can be combined with the additional service "simple registered mail".

Send your important letters (contracts, legal documents, application documents, bank information, etc.) via registered mail. Delivery will be documented with an advice of delivery according to the regulations applicable in the country of destination; delivery to the recipient not being a performance feature.
In addition, you can use your item number to track your registered item to many destinations all the way to delivery. Also, your registered mail is insured against loss, theft, and damage up to 50 euros.
Please note: objects of value (e.g., securities, jewellery, precious metals, mobile phones) may only be posted with our additional service "Insured item"!

Use our "advice of delivery" service to receive a confirmation signed by the recipient that your item has been delivered. This additional service is only available in combination with registered mail.

Items will only be delivered to the addressee in person or an authorised person. This service is only available in combination with our "registered mail" service. This service is not available for all countries. For some countries, it is only available in combination with advice of delivery.

Send your valuables such as securities, precious metals, exclusive jewellery etc. as an insured letter. In the case of damage or loss, Österreichische Post is liable for the indicated value maximum.
This additional service is only available in combination with international priority letter mail and our registered mail service.

Capitalize on the benefits of international reply mail and pay for the recipients' postage if they reply to your international letter mail item.
