Christmas mail with the "Via Christkindl post office" special postmark

At the Christkindl post office, we accept all domestic and international ECO items and we postmark any items as desired. There is no need to travel to the special post office to get the wildly popular Christkindl postmark: use the additional stamp "Via Christkindl Post Office” to have letters sent directly to Christkindl post office, where they will receive the special postmark and are then delivered to addressees. Simply affix the additional stamp to your previously franked Christmas mail and hand it in at any Austrian Post counter (important: do not drop it in a letterbox!). We’ll take care of everything else for you!

Letters to Christkindl

At the special post office, thousands of letters and wishes from children who write to “Christkindl” receive an answer. While we cannot guarantee that all wishes will come true, we promise that each and every child receives an answer to their letter to Christkindl.

Since all Christkindl helpers are very busy answering letters, a helping hand from the children’s families would be much appreciated. 

How can you support our helpers?

For domestic letters to Christkindl:
To reply to domestic letters, Christkindl needs an addressed envelope with the right postage.

For international letters to Christkindl:
To reply to international letters, an international reply coupon is needed so that “Christkindl” can write back with a stamp and special postmark. From 29 November 2024 to 6 January 2025, the Christkindl post office will also open its doors to visitors.

Christkindl additional stamp

The self-adhesive additional stamp measures 25.50 x 31.50 mm. The additional stamp was designed by the artist Marion Füllerer. It displays the upper portion of the Christkindl pilgrimage church with the inscription "Via Christkindl post office". The additional stamps come in a set (of 6 each) and are available for EUR 5.70. They will be available for purchase from 14 November 2024.
