Christmas greetings sent "via Christkindl post office"

Add a special touch of Christmas magic to your festive mail: With the “Via Christkindl post office” additional stamp, your letters will be routed directly through the Christkindl post office, where they will receive the popular special postmark before being delivered to their recipients. 

For letters sent from Austria

To enable the Christkind to reply, please enclose a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage. This will ensure that the reply finds its way back to you.

Our opening hours:

• 27 November 2026: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• 28 November to 23 December 2026: Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• 24 December 2026: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
• 25 and 26 December 2026: closed
• 27 to 30 December 2026: 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

• Acceptance of domestic ECO letter mail, both unregistered and registered (excluding cash-on-delivery items, postage-paid-in-cash items, items addressed “postlagernd Christkindl” (poste restante), tracking services and merchandise items to destinations outside the EU and third countries)
• Acceptance of unregistered ECO letter mail to international destinations and registered PRIO standard letters to European destinations
• A special postmark featuring the Christmas stamp
• Mailings bearing the “Via Christkindl post office” additional stamp

Christkindl additional stamp

The self-adhesive additional stamp measures 25.50 × 31.50 mm. Designed by artist Marion Füllerer, it depicts the upper section of the Christkindl pilgrimage church and bears the inscription “Über Postamt Christkindl”. The additional stamps have no denomination or year printed on them and will be available from 5 November at all Austrian Post branches in blister packs of six for 6.00 euros. Individual additional stamps cannot be purchased.
