My journey as a trainee at Austrian Post Attending career fairs as a newcomer Author: Antonia Rechberg

An exciting new chapter of my professional journey began when I joined Austrian Post as a trainee in recruitment. Coming from the field of development aid, I had no experience in recruitment and was very eager to see what new challenges lay ahead.

From the very start, I was integrated into the team and given various insights and the exciting task of representing the company at different career events. As a newcomer to the company, it was initially a challenge to answer questions about my new employer. However, thanks to the support of my helpful colleagues, I was able to overcome these hurdles successfully. Many of my conversation partners found my perspective as a newcomer on the company culture and working environment enriching.

It was particularly fascinating to realise that career fairs are not only key moments for employers to identify promising talents early on, but also unique opportunities for me as a trainee to get to know the company better. The diversity and excitement that each of these events offered helped expand my personal skills and increased my motivation to explore the company further. Additionally, as someone who had recently moved to Austria from Germany, the various event locations allowed me to experience the many different sides of Vienna.

The tasks assigned to me as a trainee not only deepened my understanding of employer branding but also provided me with a unique insight into the versatility and modernity of Austrian Post. In my ongoing adventure with Austrian Post, I discover daily that the company has much more to offer than just logistics and parcel delivery.

It is an innovative and successful company, which impresses not only at the corporate headquarters but also through the motivated employees in the branches and logistics centres who bring the company to life. The career events have proven to be key to my personal and professional growth, and I look forward to writing many more exciting chapters of my journey at Austrian Post.
