Featured Commemorative Stamp, July 2020 06.07.2020
100th anniversary of the Lippizan stud farm in Piber
100 years ago, the Lippizans, the world-famous white horses of the Spanish Riding School, found a home in Piber in western Styria.
This year’s stamp features the Lippizan mare Triesta with her foal Maestoso, which is still black, by her side. A handwritten stud book can be seen in the background. To honour the stud farm’s anniversary, we are issuing a colour print in sophisticated gold, which is available at our service locations east and center/west. The margin of the small sheet features artwork by the horse painter Ludwig Koch and shows movements and jumps performed at the Spanish Riding School that has made the Lippizans famous.
