Only upon closer inspection can one recognise the tricks employed by these criminals. We have compiled tips for your everyday life to ensure you are well protected while navigating the internet.

Be vigilant when prompted to enter data, especially login details, payment information, and addresses

  • Use online services and delivery options exclusively through your Austrian Post account.
  • Make changes (e.g., username, e-mail address, password) to your Austrian Post account directly via the Austrian Post app or our website www.post.at.
  • Verify payment requests via e-mail by checking the item and order numbers.

Look closely to see if the e-mail or SMS was genuinely sent by Austrian Post

  • Check the item number with the official tracking service of Austrian Post – in the Austrian Post app or on post.at/sendungsverfolgung.
  • Spelling mistakes, pixelated logos, and cryptic senders of e-mails should raise alarm bells.
  • Do not be deceived by fake websites or e-mails designed to resemble Austrian Post or using its name. Carefully examine the web address or e-mail address. We exclusively use the ending post.at.

Scrutinise raffles, bogus and bait offers critically.

  • Austrian Post does not raffle or sell mystery parcels our return pallets.
  • Check with the sender if the the only available delivery option is "cash-on delivery".

Protect your Austrian Post account

  • Use a secure password (at least 10 characters long, consisting of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters) or a password manager.
  • Change your password on a regular basis.
  • Watch out for unfamiliar activities in your Austrian Post account (e.g., items displayed that you did not order).
